Night Shyamalan latest collaboration with the AMC and AppleTV+ series ‘The Servant’ has been renewed for a Second Season ahead of its Thanksgiving Day debut. According to Variety, Shyamalan revealed earlier this week in an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (below) that the series was being renewed.
The show is described as a psychological thriller that is about a Philadelphian couple Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose) and Sean Turner (Toby Kebbell) whom under unfortunate circumstances have unexpectedly lost their new born son, Jericho. To help the couple cope, a very life-like doll of their dead son is integrated as theraputic method and because of this, a “mysterious force enter[s] their home” (IMDB) in the form of a servant named Leann (played by Nell Tiger Free) who is hired by the couple to look after their “son”. Harry Potter’s own Rupert Grint is also among the cast and plays Julian Pearce, a close friend of Sean. Writer, creator, and Executive Producer Tony Basgallop (Hotel Babylon) alongside with director, M Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense; Signs), Executive Producer Larissa Michel (Brothers Keeper) and Co-Executive Producers Patrick Markey (Ozark) and Taylor Latham (LOL) are the creative minds behind the show.
Again, the show has already premiered on AppleTV+ where the first 3 episodes of the season are now available for audiences to view. After that, a new episode will premiere on the streaming platform every Friday until the shows season finale sometime in January. The growing popularity for the streaming service could be and or it’s a-list crew might have contributed to the shows up front renewal. Servant is among many of AppleTV+’s original series that have been known as of yet to have been picked up for additional season prior to their launch date including “SEE”, “For All Mankind”, “Dickenson”, and “The Morning Show”.
