Lucasfilm Teases Release Windows for ‘Mandalorian’ Season Three, ‘Ahsoka’, and ‘Andor’

The Star Wars universe is about to expand as Lucasfilm reveals the release windows for all main projects currently in production, via Collider. These projects include The MandalorianAhsoka, and Andor, whose release windows were revealed by Vanity Fair.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to premiere in two weeks, with Ewan McGregor (Moulin Rouge!Star Wars Episode I) and Hayden Christensen (Jumper) reprising their roles from the prequel series. Obi-Wan will be followed up by Andor, starring Diego Luna (Narcos: MexicoThe Book of Life) reprising his role as Cassian Andor in the Rogue One prequel series. The series will tell the story of how Cassian became involved in the Rebellion. Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) will also be returning from Rogue One as Saw Gerrera. Andor is expected to stream on Disney+ in later summer 2022, and plans are reportedly in place for a second season.

The Mandalorian season three is still in production and is expected to stream in late 2022 or early 2023. The next season will follow up The Book of Boba Fett. The story will continue to follow the relationship between Din Jarin (Pedro Pascal) and his adoptive child Grogu. The Mandalorian spin-off, Ahsoka starring Rosario Dawson (Luke Cage), is set to premiere in 2023. Filming for the series started a couple weeks ago.

The only project without a set release is The Acolyte, starring Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give). A prequel to the Skywalker Saga, The Acolyte is set a hundred years before Episode I and will take viewers to the world of the High Republic. Lucasfilm is still casting for the series, with writing for the series mostly complete. The Acolyte is described as a mystery thriller set in a prosperous and seemingly peaceful era in the Star Wars universe.

Director Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming) recently announced that he is developing a new coming-of-age Star Wars series for Disney+ after recently departing the Marvel Studios’ take on Fantastic Four. Moon Knight producers Grant Curtis and Nick Pipen is set to produce the film while a new director is sought out.

While the Star Wars universe seems to expand on Disney+, there have been little-to-no updates around the franchise’s theatrical releases since Rian Johnson’s (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) trilogy got delayed.
