The Philippines, Thailand and India will soon see local versions of Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl and ER.
These three series are Warner Bros. Television Group’s most successful long running and award winning scripted series. Pretty Little Liars is in production in the Philippines. ABC Development Corporation produces the series and the 22-episode adaptation will air in the Philippines on TV5 in April of this year. The series currently ranks number one for original series of all time on ABC Family. The fifth season of Pretty Little Liars airs this summer. The series also dominates on Twitter where they continually break records for the number of show-related posts. The show centers on four female teens that drift apart after the mysterious death of a friend. They once again start speaking when their “dead” friend begins messaging them hinting that she may still be alive and stalking them.
In Thailand, the Kantana Public Company Limited is producing their take on Gossip Girl. It has an 18-episode adaptation in the works. Prior to this, an adaptation titled Gossip Girl Acapulco was a big success in Mexico in 2013. The U.S. Gossip Girl focuses on rich elite youngsters want to experience the temptations urban life has to offer. The series was wildly popular on The CW for five years. It sparked trends in the world of fashion, music and social media. Fake Empire and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios produce Gossip Girl.
Gold Television Network in India is optioning an adaptation of the mega-hit series ER. This announcement comes a month after a Colombian version of ER was announced at NATPE. The U.S. series was produced by Constant c Productions and Amblin Television. It premiered in 1994 and ended after 15 seasons. There were over 300 episodes produced and it is the most Emmy-nominated series in history with 124 nominations. ER received 116 awards including 23 Emmy’s and 1 Peabody Award.
