Netflix’s upcoming Little House on the Prairie reboot is continuing to build its cast ahead of its July 9 premiere. According to Deadline, Rachelle Lefevre (Twilight, Under the Dome) and Charlotte Sullivan (Rookie Blue, Chicago Fire) have joined the series as regular cast members for season two.
Lefevre will play Eva Beadle, the town schoolteacher who quickly becomes a favorite of Mary Ingalls and Laura Ingalls. Deadline describes the character as adventurous, well-read, open-minded, and generous, with a passion for education and exploring the world.
Sullivan has been cast as Margaret Oleson, mother of Nellie Oleson, who will be portrayed by fellow season two addition Willa Dunn (A Million Little Things, The Good Doctor). Deadline reports that Margaret is charming, energetic, witty, and deeply devoted to her daughter. However, she also struggles with fears of losing Nellie’s affection, adding another layer to the family dynamic within the series.
The cast includes Alice Halsey (Lessons in Chemistry, Days of Our Lives) as Laura Ingalls, Luke Bracy (Elvis, Holidate) as Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald (Palm Royale, Abbott Elementary) as Caroline Ingalls, and Skywalker Hughes (Joe Pickett, Accused) as Mary Ingalls. Additional cast members include Jocko Sims (New Amsterdam, The Last Ship) and Warren Christie (Batwoman, The Village).
Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, The Vampire Diaries) serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Joy Gorman Wettels (13 Reasons Why, The White Lotus), Trip Friendly (Little House on the Prairie, Last Man Standing), and Dana Fox (Cruella, The Wedding Date).
mxdwn previously covered Netflix’s early confidence in the reboot when the streamer renewed Little House on the Prairie for a second season before the first season had even premiered. That report highlighted Netflix’s belief in the project’s long-term potential and its commitment to expanding the series’ world beyond its debut season.
The early renewal also signaled confidence in the creative team’s ability to adapt Laura Ingalls Wilder’s stories for a new generation of viewers. Now, with the addition of Lefevre and Sullivan, Netflix continues to expand the show’s ensemble as it prepares to introduce audiences to its new take on the beloved frontier classic.
