Lifetime has ordered eight episodes of a new competition docuseries titled Child Genius, Deadline has learned.
The series, based off of the UK format of the same name, centers on some of America’s most academically gifted children and their families as they prepare for a national intelligence competition.
The competition will take place over several weeks throughout the summer and test the youth on their knowledge of subjects like logic, current affairs, history, memory, science, spelling, math and debate. The winner will be crowned the Child Genius of 2014.
In cooperation with American MENSA, Child Genius is produced by Shed Media US, with Pam Healey, John Hesling and Dan Snook as executive producers alongside Lifetime’s Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and David Hillman.
