According to Deadline, The second season of Ryan Murphy (9-1-1, Glee, and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) and Ian Brennan’s (Scream Queen, The Watcher) true-crime anthology series on Netflix, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, features Leslie Grossman (The Good Place, Nip/Tuck). Grossman has collaborated with Murphy on The American Horror Story series.
According to Deadline, Grossman will portray Judalon Smyth, a former patient and mistress of Dr. Jerome Oziel, who became involved in the Menendez case and ultimately contributed significantly to the arrests of Lyle and Erik.
Grossman appears on Monsters alongside Nicholas Chavez (Crushed) and Cooper Koch (They/Them, Swallowed), who play Lyle and Erik, respectively, and Chloë Sevigny (Bones and All, The Dead Don’t Die) and Javier Bardem (The Little Mermaid, Skyfall), who play their parents Jose and Kitty Menendez. Other cast members include Ari Graynor (What’s Your Number?, Surface), who plays one of the most well-
Along with Alexis Martin Woodall (The Prom), Eric Kovtun (The Boys In The Band), David McMillan (Now You See Me), Louise Shore (Love, Rosie), and Carl Franklin (Out Of Time), Murphy and Brennan serve as executive producers.
Deadline claims that Lyle and Erik Menendez killed Jose and Kitty, their parents, in 1989 in their home in the Los Angeles area. They were not considered the main suspects at first, but in the months that followed, they were the subject of an investigation and eventually admitted to the murder, all the while claiming that their father had abused them physically, emotionally, and sexually for years before.
Similar to O.J. Simpson’s 1994 trial, the first of two trials that were televised on Court TV captivated the nation and are thought to have contributed to the current fascination with true crime. The Menendez brothers were found guilty in 1996 and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release on the grounds that the two were actually attempting to inherit their father’s substantial estate.
Evan Peters (Mare Of Easttown, X-Men: Apocalypse) played the infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the first season of the anthology Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Following its September 2022 debut, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story became one of Netflix’s most popular English-language series ever, and as a result, Netflix approved two more installments.
Grossman has made appearances on Murphy’s American Horror Story for the past five seasons. Among her other TV credits are recurring roles on shows like The Good Place, Goliath, Love, Victor, and The Goldbergs. Framework Entertainment and Innovative Artists represent her.
2024 will see the release of Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
