Paramount+ has struck streaming gold with the return of Landman. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the season two premiere of the Taylor Sheridan-created drama set new benchmark for the platform, marking the biggest season or series launch in the streamer’s history. The Texas-based oil saga pulled in 9.2 million views worldwide within its first two days a surge that more than triples the audience from last year’s debut episode, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the streamer arrived at its staggering tally using the industry-standard method of dividing total minutes watched by the episode’s 49-minute runtime, equaling more than 450 million minutes streamed globally. Internal data also revealed a renewed spike in viewership for season one, suggesting the series is experiencing a full-scale resurgence.
As highlighted by The Hollywood Reporter, created by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, Sicario) and Christian Wallace (Boomtown podcast, Texas Monthly investigative features) whose Boomtown podcast inspired the series, Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo, Goliath) as a seasoned West Texas oil broker. Season Two also features Demi Moore (Ghost, Feud: Capote vs. The Swans), Andy Garcia (The Untouchables, Ocean’s Eleven), Ali Larter (Heroes, Final Destination), Sam Elliott (1883, A Star Is Born), Jacob Lofland (Mud, Maze Runner: Scorch Trials).
As stated by The Hollywood Reporter, the first season of Landman was one of 2024–2025’s breakout hits, averaging 15.8 million viewers across platforms within 35 days and placing in the top 10 U.S. series of the year. Early traction for season two signals that the show is likely headed for another dominant run.
