The Fringe star will play the role of a voodoo Satan in the series’ remaining four episodes.
Lance Reddick, also known as Agent Phillip Broyles in FOX sci-fi drama Fringe, will be joining the American Horror Story crew when the horror anthology returns in January. The character, named Papa Legba, is described as Coven‘s version of voodoo Satan and plays a pivotal role in the life of Marie Laveau (Angela Bassett). The information was first learned by Entertainment Weekly.
Papa Legba is yet another character borrowed from real life. The figure is a voodoo middleman, of sorts. He is the go-between for humans and the spirit world in the practice of Haitian voodoo.
AHS co-creator Ryan Murphy teased Legba’s involvement in Coven cover story: “You find out that’s how come Marie Laveau looks so good — because she sold her soul!”
