Kyle Chandler Cast in New Showtime Series, ‘Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber’

Kyle Chandler, known for his roles on Friday Night Lights and Bloodline, is set to join the cast of Showtime’s new series, Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber. Via Variety, the actor will be added alongside another Hollywood stalwart, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Roseanne).

Via TVLine, Super Pumped is set to be an anthology series that depicts the highs and lows of working in Silicon Valley. Each season will take on a different company that started from the ground up and depict its successes and failures along with the colorful characters that created it.

The first season is set around the creation of Uber with Gordon-Levitt set to play Uber CEO and co-founder, Travis Kalanick. Chandler will play Bill Gurley, a key figure and investor in Uber who helped in the coup to throw Kalanick out of Silicon Valley.

The show seems to be moving quickly through production, as Chandler’s casting announcement comes only days after the announcement of Gordon-Levitt’s role.

Executive vice president of scripted programming at Showtime Networks, Amy Israel, talked of the fervor around the network for the two castings. “We’re excited to see the dynamic pairing of Chandler as the brilliant Bill Gurley and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the high-flying disruptor. With these two actors leading the charge, the series promises to be a riveting, wild ride,” said Israel, via Variety.

The creators of hit Showtime series, Billions, Brian Koppelman and David Levien, will serve as executive producers and showrunners on the show. They will also be tagged as writers for the show as it continues to advance through production.

Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber is still very early in the production process, so fans will have to wait for information on a release date.
