According to Variety, United States Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem responded to her depiction in the latest episode of South Park. On the radio show of pundit Glenn Beck, she called out the episode for being “lazy” and “petty.”
In the episode, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone include a scene where their depiction of her has its face develop a mind of its own, detaching itself from her face and attacking visitors at Mar-A-Lago, eventually attaching itself to a Security Guard’s face. The caricature of her also has a face with puffed-up lips.
Noem told Beck that “It never ends, but it’s so lazy to constantly make fun of women for how they look.” She added, “It’s always the liberals and the extremists who do that. If they wanted to criticize my job, go ahead and do that, but clearly they can’t; they just pick something petty like that.”
Noem also admitted that she hadn’t seen the episode, saying that she was “too busy going over budget numbers and stuff.”
South Park also pokes fun at Noem for her admission that she once shot her dog Cricket because it was too aggressive. Their caricature of her shoots a number of dogs who show up in her path during the episode.
The episode also pokes fun at her position as Secretary of Homeland Security. The depiction is of an ICE agent who arrests any and all Hispanic or suspected Hispanic characters in the show. This includes Dora the Explorer, whose live show is raided by ICE.
Vice President J.D. Vance responded differently to his depiction in the episode, which envisioned him as a short man-baby who is kicked around by others. On X/Twitter, he said, “Well, I’ve made it,” according to Variety.
The first two episodes of the 27th season, the first episode presented United States President Donald Trump attempting to initiate sex with Satan, and poking fun at him. The White House responded, saying, “This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention.”
South Park recently secured a 5 season deal with Paramount+ for $1.5 billion. At the same time, Paramount was facing public outcry after canceling The Late Show in a move some speculated was related to a lawsuit Paramount recently settled with the President of the United States.
Creators Parker and Stone responded to the white house at a Comic-Con panel, saying, “We’re terribly sorry.”
