Kristen Wiig returns to the small screen in Reese Witherspoon comedy for Apple

Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company has landed Kristen Wiig to headline a comedy series for Apple. According to Deadline, Wiig will also executive produce the half-hour series.

The yet-to-be-titled comedy pulls from You Think It, I’ll Say It, a collection of short stories from Curtis Sittenfield who will serve as a consulting producer. The Hello Sunshine company has two additional projects in the hopper over at Apple: another untitled morning drama and Are You Sleeping. Apple is also behind the resurgence of Steven Speilberg’s 80s show Amazing Stories.

The comedy at Apple is Wiig’s first foray back into television after leaving Saturday Night Live back in 2012. During her SNL days, she picked up four Emmy nominations for characters such as Nancy Pelosi and Suze Orman.

Her movie career brought Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for her part in Bridesmaids. Wiig will be seen next in Where’d You Go, Bernadette with Cate Blanchett.
