Game Of Thrones season five’s big death has been debated among fans since it happened during the finale.
Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington, was supposedly killed off for good at the end of season five but not everyone is convinced. While Harington and showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have claimed that his character is truly dead, it hasn’t stopped fans from thinking he might not be truly gone from the show. We reported here that even Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys, is also not convinced that Jon Snow is really dead for good.
Harington’s appearance today in Belfast has continued to spark discussion over his character. Fan site, Watchers On The Wall, tweeted a picture of Harington in Belfast, Ireland. A place where Game Of Thrones regularly films and is filming there for season six. See the tweet below.
Harington was even reportedly on the same flight as fellow cast member, Tom Wlaschiha. Game Of Thrones actors Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner have all been spotted in Belfast too, according to The Week.
While it is possible that Harington is filming flashbacks for season six, several fan theories as to how he might have survived continue to gain traction in light of appearances like this. Fan theories surrounding his survival include speculating who his true parents are and resurrection possibilities.
Fans have also speculated on the length of Harington’s hair as proof that Jon Snow is not dead. As long as Harington was playing Jon Snow he was contractually obligated to keep his hair long. However Harington was spotted at Wimbledon with the same long hair after the conclusion of season five, according to TV Guide.
While nothing will be certain until the premiere of season six, it’s clear that fans are not ready to give up on a favorite character.
For another reason to look forward to season six, Emilia Clarke says the scripts are exciting. In an interview with the LA Times she said this about the upcoming season, “It’s just go, go, go, go. Shocking moment to shocking moment. Epic moment to epic moment. It’s mental; it’s epic. And definitely Dany’s a part of it.”
Perhaps one of those shocking moments is the return of Jon Snow. Season six doesn’t have a premiere date yet but it’s expected to air on HBO in spring of 2016. Until then, fans will have to keep speculating what crazy moments season six will hold.
