With Laura Neal (Sex Education) taking over as showrunner for the upcoming fourth season, it will begin filming in the summer in the United Kingdom in preparation for a 2022 premiere. The series has previously been known for tapping new women to oversee the series, with Suzanne Heathcote (See) having served as showrunner for season three, Emerald Fennel (The Crown) in season two, and Phoebe Waller-Bridger (Fleabag) in season one. Since its initial launch, Killing Eve has been nominated for multiple Emmys for its leads, Comer having won in 2019.
Speaking of the series’ immense success over the years, AMC Networks president of originals Dan McDermott stated, “Killing Eve exploded in pop culture and attracted a dedicated and committed fan base from its very first episode. Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s brilliant adaptation of the source material, the unforgettable characters given life by Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, and the entire cast, along with our partners at Sid Gentle Films, have delivered a one-of-a-kind roller-coaster ride that has taken our breath away….We look forward to what is sure to be an unforgettable final season and to exploring potential extensions of this compelling universe,” via The Hollywood Reporter. The BBC America drama began airing on AMC in 2019, during the launch of its second season. Fans have already taken to social media to express their grief in having to say goodbye to the award-winning drama.

Comer added, “Killing Eve has been the most extraordinary journey and one that I will be forever grateful for. Thank you to all the fans who’ve supported us throughout and come along for the ride. Although all good things come to an end, it’s not over yet. We aim to make this one to remember,” via The Hollywood Reporter.
The eight-episode final season is expected to have a 2022 release and will begin filming in the United Kingdom this summer.
