The official trailer for Kevin James’ new Netflix sitcom The Crew has been released on Youtube. According to Netflix, James (The King Of Queens) plays Kevin Gibson, the crew chief of NASCAR team. The owner of that fictitious NASCAR team steps down and passes his role to his daughter. James (Kevin Can Wait) protects himself and his crew as their new boss tries to modernize the team.
According to Comingsoon.net, James stars as the crew chief of the Bobby Spencer Racing Team, a fictional NASCAR team. Bobby Spencer, the team owner, is portrayed by Bruce McGill (TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles). Spencer decides to step down and pass the reins off to his daughter, Catherine, who is played by Jillian Mueller (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).
According to that same Comingsoon.net report, The Crew’s owner, Spencer was a beloved NASCAR driver in his early years. He started his own racing team shortly after his retirement from the behind the wheel on the racetrack. After watching his team’s glory days fade, he decides it’s time to change things up. Spencer notices the technology driven teams are dominating the track and turns operations over to his daughter, Catherine.
Catherine’s plan of action is to eliminate the weakest links of the team. She starts with the driver, Jake, who is very bad at driving. Young, dumb and distracted driver Jake is played by Freddie Stroma best known for his roles in Pitch Perfect, UnReal, and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Comingsoon.net reports guest star, Paris Berelc (Alexa & Katie), plays Jessie, the young skilled race car driver that Catherine wants to replace Jake with. Sponsors love the idea of a woman taking the role of driver on the team. Especially, when Jessie actually knows what she’s doing under the hood, unlike Jake. Rounding out the recurring cast of Netflix’s The Crew will be Sarah Stiles (Epix’ Get Shorty, Showtime’s Billions), Gary Anthony Williams (Adult Swim’s The Boondocks, Undercover Brother), and Dan Ahdoot (Disney’s Kickin’ it, Netflix’s Cobra Kai).
Netflix’s The Ranch, executive producer Jeff Lowell will serve as writer, executive producer and showrunner for the new series. Netflix also reports Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 director, Andy Fickman has directed all episodes and serves as an executive producer along with James, Jeff Sussman, and Todd Garner. According to Netflix, on the NASCAR side Matt Summers and Tim Clark will serve as executive producers.
All episodes for the first season will be released on the streaming network, February 15, 2021. Have a look at the trailer below:
