Kevin Costner Comments For The First Time About His Fate In ‘Yellowstone’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Costner (The Postman, Let Him Go) has made his first comments regarding his fate on the hit series, Yellowstone. While promoting his new film Horizon: An American Saga, Costner expresses how he would love to return to the series for the rest of the final, season and finish strong as his character Dutton.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Costner spoke with Entertainment Tonight and said, “I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to … I thought I was going to make seven seasons but right now we’re at five. So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with it, I’d love to do it.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Costner has wanted to improve the character of Dutton’s fate in the series. Although this was the case, co-creator Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, Wind River), like many other showrunners, do not always allow actors to determine their character’s story

Costner said, “Dutton needs to be proactive in what happens and I’ve kind of had my own fantasy how the character’s final arc might be. But that’s Taylor’s thing. I said as much to him a while back. I had thoughts how it could happen, but we just have to see.”

Yellowstone is a western drama created by Sheridan and John Linson (Lords of Dogtown, Sons of Anarchy). The series focuses on the Duttons, a family of ranchers in the state of Montana. The series under Paramount Network has recently announced that the second half of their fifth season will be the final installment of the series. The second part is scheduled to premiere later this year in November.

All episodes of Yellowstone are available to stream on Peacock and Hulu.
