According to The Hollywood Reporter, Keke Palmer (The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy) formally revealed that one of her former co-stars on Scream Queen would make racist remarks towards her while on set. She recently gave an update on where she and that co-star stand.
Last year Palmer spoke with Los Angeles Times Palmer spoke about the memoir she wrote titled Master of Me: The Secret to Controlling Your Narrative where she shared shares anecdotes from her career. She spoke about her time on Fox’s Scream Queens and remembers time when creator of the series Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) allegedly called her “unprofessional” made a racist remark to her after Palmer tried to mediate tensions between them.
“Keke, literally, just don’t. Who do you think you are? Martin f—— Luther King?” Palmer writes that the person said in response at the time.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Palmer never reveals the identity of the co-star who had made the remarks against her but she did share that they have to this day not apologized. In an interview with The Cut she states how the co-star never apologized but did congratulate her on the release of her book.
“I was like, ‘Hey, thanks, it feels good,’” she said. “She was just checking the temperature. She knows what she did.”
When speaking about Murphy she said, “I definitely think that he thought that I could have been attacking him or trying to shame him or send the mobs after him. But the point of my bringing up Ryan Murphy wasn’t ‘Fuck Ryan Murphy, he ain’t shit.’ It was, ‘Look, I did what I had to do for me, and it caused me an issue with one of the most popular and successful men in the industry, and sometimes getting to your personal success may cost you to do the same thing.’”
She has not worked with Murphy since the series but said, “That was just a job. It wasn’t the end goal. That was a stepping stone to me building the Keke Palmer brand.”
