Sponge On The Run has officially released its trailer with the amazing Keanu Reeves in great anticipation for its third movie spin off. The movie will tie into its prequel series, Kamp Koral, which handled young Spongebob’s summer camp experiences. Although there were several controversies regarding its initial installment and disapproval, the movie went forward anyway, and this continuation is meant to shed more light on a previously 10 year old Spongebob.
It’s been a fantastic year so far for Keanu Reeves, and it only gets better when he lands another cameo on on the big screen. In the trailer, he appears as “the wise sage,” or at least his head does. His talented voice will also collaborate with Awkwafina, Tom Kenny, and Reggie Watts to Paramount Picture’s animated project.
The 3D animated movie for Sponge On The Run has Spongebob and his pal Patrick venture out of Bikini Bottom and into The Lost City of Atlantic City to find Spongebob’s beloved snail pet, Gary. Gary goes missing, and it’s up to Spongebob (Tom Kenny) and Patrick (Bill Fagerbakkle) to navigate through a series of larger-than-life obstacles to prove that friendship can bring them back together.
The show has had a long run on Nickelodeon and has significantly held up popularity during its lifetime, even surpassing twenty years. The Spongebob Squarepants cartoon series has since released two movie spin offs and continues to capitalize on the fan favorite. Based on Sponge Out of Water which netted 325 million gross at the worldwide box office, it’s no surprise that Paramount is calling the shots for yet another movie.
Longtime co-writer and director Tom Hill has a lot to say about the film, but letting the audience figure things out for themselves. The film is intended for both kids and adults who love the frequently fantastical adventures that he helps create. Reaching theaters in May of 2020, the CGI adventure will explore another adventure on how the main characters became best friends.
