According to Deadline, new actors have been added to the cast list of Showtime’s The Chi. These new actors, who will play reccuring roles, include Kadeem Hardison (A Different World), Leon (Swarm), Brett Gray (I’m A Virgo) and Daniel J. Watts (Werewolf By Night). They will be featured in part two of season six, which will premiere on May 10th.
Deadline stated that Harrison will play the role of college literature professor, Professor Gardner. Leon will play a street-smart attorney named Alonzo. Gray will be seen as a smart young man named Damien. Finally, Watts will be a charming pastor named Pastor Ezekiel.
The show, which Deadline noted is created as well as executive produced by Lena Waithe (Ready Player One) under the Hillman Grad banner. The Chi is said to be a coming-of-age series about a group of residents in Chicago who are bonded by their connection to each other.
IMDb stated that the synopsis for the show is “On Chicago’s South Side, an average day finds kids prepping for school as their parents head off to work, young adults trying to make a living, and the elders keeping an eye on things from their front porches. But in this tough neighborhood, real dangers threaten daily to squelch dreams, and the simplest decisions can have life or death consequences. From Emmy® winner Lena Waithe, The Chi is a timely coming-of-age drama series centered on a group of residents who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption.”
Deadline also claimed that Harrison is repped by Untitled Entertainment and Global Artists Agency. Leon is repped by Daniel Hoff Agency, Inphenate and attorney Cari Davine. Gray is repped by Independent Artist Group and Brave Artists Management. Lastly, Watts is repped by WME, Mosaic, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner & Klein.
