

According to Deadline, Justina Machado (One Day At a Time, The Horror of Dolores Roach) has been cast in a recurring role on the second season of CBS‘ legal drama Matlock. Machado will be playing the role of Eva, a formidable, smart, and ambitious attorney and Jacobson Moore managing partner Howard “Senior” Markston’s 4th ex-wife. Eva runs Jacobson Moore’s Miami office and she arrives in New York for an emergency meeting which she uses to her advantage.
As per Deadline, Machado’s joining the cast will reunite her with series creator Jennie Snyder Urman (Charmed, Something Borrowed) and studio CBS Studios, which were also behind Jane the Virgin, a series in which she starred. She is the second Alum from the CW series to join Matlock, along with Yael Grobglas (Supergirl, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai) , who is also recurring on the CW drama headlined by Kathy Bates (American Horror Story, Disjointed).
According to Deadline, Machado is currently known for her role on Netflix’s medical drama series Pulse as well as the Amazon/Blumhouse series The Horrors Of Dolores Roach. She is also coming off a Broadway run in Real Women Have Curves, which earned her a Tony nomination. She was most recently seen in Mario Garcia’s (Unread) indie The Throwback. Machado, who previously headlined Netflix’s praised One Day At a Time reboot, is repped by D2 management, UTA and attorney Rick Genow (The Wannabe).
According to Deadline, Matlock follows Madeline ‘Matty’ Matlock played by Bates, a brilliant septuagenarian who achieved success in her younger years and decides to rejoin the workforce at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases. The cast of the series includes Leah Lewis (The Half of It, The Tiger’s Apprentice) as Sarah Franklin, Skye P. Marshall (Black Lightning, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Olympia Lawrence, Jason Ritter (A Million Little Things, Raising Dion) as Julian Markston, David Del Rio (The Baker and the Beauty, Pitch Perfect) as Billy Martinez, Sam Anderson (Water Elephant, Forrest Gump) as Edwin Kingston and many others.
Matlock is available to stream on Paramount+ and Hulu.
