‘Justice League Action’ the Animated Superhero Series to Debut on Cartoon Network

Superhero content is increasingly dominating television and film. Marvel currently has two Netflix original series out (Jessica Jones, Daredevil) and is working on several others including Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

Then there’s the DC, which has multiple superhero series out on television including Supergirl which is on CBS plus Arrow, The Flash, and the newly released Legends of Tomorrow which can be viewed on The CW.

And of course we have Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the two highly anticipated superhero films coming out this year.

Now, an animated version of the Justice League is returning to Cartoon Network. According to IGN, the superhero series will be titled Justice League Action.

The original animated version of Justice League was titled Justice League Unlimited and ended back in 2006 and comprised of half-hour long episodes. Justice League Action in contrast, will feature 11-minute episodes.

Kevin Conroy, who originally voiced Batman aka Bruce Wayne in Justice League Unlimited will be lending his voice for the dark knight in Justice League Action.

We’ll also see Mark Hamill returning as the Joker, James Woods as Lex Luthor, and Diedrich Bader as Booster Gold. No information is confirmed as far as who exactly will be voicing Wonder Woman and Superman.

In Justice League Action, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman will join other DC Comics super heroes in combating many of the infamous villains in a series of exciting and action-packed adventures. Since the upcoming series will only be 11 minutes long per episode, the show will be delivering fast-paced action. This includes protecting the earth, battling space invaders, and dealing with powerful magical forces.

Justice League Action is the first DC Comics-based franchise to launch on Cartoon Network since Teen Titans Go! premiered in 2013. Prior to Teen Titans Go!, other animated superhero shows featured on Cartoon Network was the very popular Teen Titans which originally aired in 2003 and Young Justice which first debuted in 2012.

Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) is set to be the executive producer along with Butch Lukic (Justice League, Batman Beyond). Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series) and Jim Krieg (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) who will be serving as producers.

As of now, there is no official start date for Justice League Action.
