According to Deadline, John Malkovich (The New Look, Dangerous Liaisons) will be joining Apple TV+ series Bad Monkey as a series regular on the second season. He joins series lead and executive producer Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers, The Internship) in the comedy series from Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso, Cougar Town). Malkovich will star as Spencer, the head of a major South Florida criminal organization on the series.

As per Deadline, Bad Monkey is based on Carl Hiaasen’s (Fever Monkey, Skinny Dip) New York Times bestselling novel; the second season will be based on a new original story. The first season told the story of Andrew Yancy, who has been bounced from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys. After stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back in.

According to Deadline, the first season of the series also starred L. Scott Caldwell (Devil in a Blue Dress, The Good Doctor), Rob Delaney (Deadpool & Wolverine, Dying for Sex), Meredith Hagner (Search Party, You’re Cordially Invited), Natalie Martinez (Broken City, End of Watch), Alex Moffat (Ralph Breaks the Internet, Someone Great), Michelle Monaghan (Hone Baby Gone, Source Code), Ronald Peet (The I-Land, Remembering His Touch), Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship, The Agency: Central Intelligence), with special guest star John Ortiz (Silver Linings Playbook, American Gangster) and guest stars Zach Braff (Scrubs, Oz the Great and Powerful), Ashley Nicole Black (A Black Lady Sketch Show, Ted Lasso), Scott Glenn (The Hunt for Red October, The Silence of the Lambs), and Charlotte Lawrence (To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, Doctor Odyssey).

As per Deadline, Bad Monkey comes from Warner Bros. Television and is developed by executive producer and showrunner Lawrence through his Doozer Productions. Malkovich who will be joining the cast on the second season is an Academy Award-nominated actor whose credits span theater, film, and television.
