John Krasinski is headed back to NBC! The A Quiet Place director and star was announced as the first springtime host of Saturday Night Live during Saturday’s episode under host Daniel Craig. The Office alum will be joined by musical guest Dua Lipa, in her second appearance on the weekend variety show.
Krasinski’s hosting gig comes alongside the release of A Quiet Place Part II March 20. In addition to starring with wife Emily Blunt, the actor directed both this film and its predecessor. Krasinski found significant success with A Quiet Place in summer 2018, receiving critical acclaim for his directing as well as the film’s storyline and performances. He will serve as the sole writer in Part II, alongside his directing credit and a (spoiler alert) small cameo as patriarch Lee Abbott.
This doesn’t mark the first time an Office cast member has hosted SNL, however. Steve Carrell has three hosting gigs under his belt, Rainn Wilson hosted once in 2007, and multiple members of the show’s cast, including Jenna Fischer, Ellie Kemper, Ed Helms, and Carrell, appeared in a November 2018 episode.
The episode will mark the second SNL appearance for singer Dua Lipa, who previously served as musical guest on Natalie Portman’s episode in 2018. The artist’s performance will feature songs from her upcoming second album, Future Nostalgia, which is set for release April 3.
To watch Krasinski’s SNL debut, tune in March 28 at 11:30 EST on NBC.
