On Monday night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fallon had Bravo’s Andy Cohen on as a guest where they played a name game called The Muff of Truth, where Fallon and Cohen had to tell each other and the audience a truth that no one knew about them. During the game, Fallon revealed that he’s been falling asleep watching Gilmore Girls lately and was becoming a huge fan. Meanwhile, Cohen revealed a texting mishap he had with his sister.
Of course, that wouldn’t be the end of Gilmore Girls talk on Fallon’s show, as Entertainment Weekly reported that on Tuesday night’s show, he once again confirmed that he’s a fan of the show and said that he just finished the fourth season, which is one of the best season finales of the show.
Fallon then listed his top four favorite characters, which included Taylor, Luke, Kirk and Paris, with Paris being his favorite character. Obviously, he had to exclude Lorelai and Rory as they’d be most people’s top favorites. He then challenged viewers to come up with their four favorite Gilmore Girls characters.
Somewhere out there, Emily Gilmore is peeved that she didn’t make his list, though she probably doesn’t even know who Jimmy Fallon is.
Fallon also revealed that he’s Team Jess, which sent the crowd into cheers as he revealed his true feelings for which of Rory’s boyfriends is the best.
This isn’t the first time that Gilmore Girls has been referenced on late night TV since the revival was announced. Back in July, when a teaser trailer was dropped for the show that referenced whether Amy Schumer and Lorelai would be friends and whether John Oliver would find Lorelai hot, Stephen Colbert specifically asked Oliver to respond to Lorelai.
Fallon seems to have Gilmore Girls on the brain, though. A few weeks ago, Fallon and Justin Timberlake were playing the Best Friends Challenge and one of the questions involved guessing what Timberlake’s favorite TV show was. Fallon guessed Gilmore Girls, but the real answer was Cheers, though Timberlake said Gilmore Girls “was number two.”
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life drops on Netflix on Friday, Nov. 25 at 3:01 a.m. EST.
