

According to Deadline, AMC has cast Emmy-nominated Jimmi Simpson as a new series regular for the third season of The Walking Dead: Dead City. Simpson joins as a regular on the series alongside Lauren Cohan (The Boy, Casanova) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Losers, The Walking Dead). Simpson will play the role of Dillard in the upcoming season but details about the character are being kept under wraps as production goes underway in Boston.
As per Deadline, The Walking Dead: Dead City follows Maggie and Negan as they travel throughout a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, which has been cut off from the mainland for a long period. In the second season of the series, in the growing war for control of Manhattan, Maggie and Negan find themselves trapped on opposite sides of the chaos. As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated than they had imagined. The Walking Dead: Dead City announced that franchise vet Seth Hoffman (Prison Break, Tell Me Your Secrets) was taking over as showrunner after it was renewed for a third season.
According to Deadline, the cast of the series includes Cohan as Maggie Rhee, Morgan as Negan Smith, Mahina Napoleon (NCSI: Hawai’i, Show Me More) as Ginny, Gaius Charles (The Messenger, Friday Night Lights) as Perlie Armstrong, Zeljko Ivanek (Black Hawk Down, Seven Psychopaths) as The Croat, Logan Kim (Kung Fu Panda 4, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) as Hershel Rhee, Lisa Emery (Ozark, Wolf) as The Dama and many more. Hoffman, Scott Gimple (Filmore!, Fear The Walking Dead), Robert Kirkman (Invincible, Renfield), Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator, The Incredible Hulk), Dave Alpert (Powers, Classified), Brian Bockrath (Tales of the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead Origins), Colin Walsh (The Fighter, The Way Way Back), Cohan and Morgan executive produce.
As per Deadline, Simpsons credits include his most current role in Apple’s Dark Matter, which is heading into its second season. He portrays multiple versions of brilliant neuroscientist Ryan Holder across different realities. He also voices the character of Abaddon, a demon trapped in a young boy’s body, on Netflix’s Haunted Hotel.
