Jim Sturgess, the British actor who stared in the movis Across the Universe and Close to The Enemy is now taking the lead character role in Luther’s spinoff. Sturgess will star with once super model Agyness Deyn. They both play detectives duo in this Neil Cross’ pre-apocalyptic crime drama. Jim Sturgess role is detective Robert Hicks and Deyn will play Detective Elaine Renko.
They are both described in Variety as “partners and enemies”, They slip fast into the depths of corruption ,while seeking to enforce the law, and protect their loved ones from certain destruction. Hulu managed to get the US rights to the series and creator Neil Cross will help feature this six-hour miniseries. Cross plays dual roles as Co-Producer. They were filming in London and show will air soon later this year.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that the series was picked up in December 2015, Hard Sun is a show basically about a family man and committed officer. He is not only that but he is corrupt . Along with his partner, they both come from two different parts of the spectrum. Jim Sturgess in Hard Sun will be a compelling dramatist that will take the lead of a mysterious crime drama. BBC one is proud to produce the series.
The Luther series was rather dark in nature and it seems likely that Hard Sun will follow that format. According to Hollywood Reporter. Renko is a difficult and damaged, but utterly incorruptible, officer. The duo stand on different ends of the social and moral spectrum and also seriously distrust one other — and for good reason. But they must somehow learn to work together if they’re going to survive until the end of the world.
Sturgess is fresh from the other series that he starred in which was Feed the beast. This series was seen on AMC. He was also seen in Close to the Enemy. Deyn’s credits includes not only modeling but The Clash of the Titans and Hail Caesar. Hard sun will join in the market of upcoming originals for the channel Hulu. Other upcoming series include The Handmaid’s Tale, Harlots, Future Man, National Treasure and The Looming Tower. Hulu is changing the face of the television series productions and will surface as a channel for alternative television and a new change for the better. Hard Sun looks like series that will generate high ratings. There is alot of buzz over this new series.
