According to Deadline, Jessica Henwick (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Iron Fist), Ellen Robertson (Mickey 17, Black Mirror), and John Slattery (Mad Men, Spotlight), have joined Netflix‘s limited series Vladimir as series regulars. Miriam Silverman (Your Friends and Neighbors, Bad Education), Kayli Carter (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Private Life), Matt Walsh (Veep, Lady Ballers), Mallori Johnson (Is God Is, Kindred), Louise Lambert (Chucky, Anthem), and Tattiawna Jones (Murderbot, Strange Empire) are boarding the series as recurring.
Henwick will play Cynthia, Robertson as Sid, Slattery as John, Silverman as Florence, Carter as Lila, Walsh as David, Johnson as Edwina, Lambert as Dawn, and Jones as Alexis. Deadline adds that Rachel Weisz (Black Widow, Constantine) will executive produce and star in the series, which is based on Julia May Jonas’s novel (Vladimir), and Leo Woodall (One Day, The White Lotus).
This eight-episode series, created, written, and executive produced by Jonas, follows the unraveling of a woman’s life as she becomes obsessed with her charming new colleague. Through dark humor, sexy secrets, and complex characters, Vladimir portrays what happens when a woman is dead set on turning her fantasies into reality, Deadline states.
Shari Springer Berman (American Splendor, The Nanny Diaries) and Robert Pulcini (Things Heard & Seen, American Splendor) are directing three episodes, including the pilot. Additionally, they will executive produce alongside Weisz, Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters, Catastrophe), Jason Winer (Arthur, Ode to Joy) and Jon Radler (Perfect Harmony, This Beautiful Life) for Small Dog Picture Company, and Stacy Greenberg (Proven Innocent, Drop-Off) and Kira Carstensen (Your Monster, SisterS) for Merman. 20th Television is the studio, Deadline notes.
Deadline says that Henwick, BAFTA nominee, can currently be seen on Apple’s Silo. She also starred in Game of Thrones, Sofia Coppola (Priscilla, Lost in Translation)’s On the Rocks, Marvel’s Iron Fist, and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, among many others. Upcoming credits include A24/StudioCanal’s new thriller Huntington from director John Patton Ford (Emily the Criminal, Patrol). She is represented by Jackoway Austen Tyerman and CAA.
Slattery, a four-time Emmy nominee, will be next seen in historical thriller Nuremberg, alongside Russell Crowe (Gladiator, Unhinged), Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody, Night at the Museum), and Michael Shannon (Man of Steel, Take Shelter), in addition to USA’s The Rainmaker and a new David Wain film, which was alluded to on the Comedy Means Business podcast. Slattery is repped by Offer, Gersh and Sloane, and Weber & Dern, as mentioned by Deadline.
Robertson can be seen in Bong Joon Ho (Parasite, Memories of Murder)’s Mickey 17, in addition to Breeders and Black Mirror. She is repped by United Agents, WME, Linden Entertainment, and Jackoway Austen, Deadline adds.
