According to Deadline, Jeremy Sisto (Returned) has been cast as Wicked City‘s lead. Sisto will be replacing Adam Rothenberg.
The pilot episode has already been shot with Adam Rothenberg. But Adam Rothenberg will not be returning to the series due to his previous commitments to the show, Ripper Street (Digital Spy).
Wicked City is a new and upcoming American crime drama premiering on ABC. The ten episode first season will air in October. Season one of Wicked City is set in 1982 on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. It follows LAPD officers searching for two romantically involved serial killers. The show stars Sisto as LAPD detective Jack Roth, Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl) as serial killer Kent Galloway, and Erika Christensen (Traffic) as Betty Smith.
Amy B. Harris is the showrunner and one of the executive producers for Wicked City. This will mean a reunion between Ed Westwick and Harris because of her work on Gossip Girl as well. Jon Cassar (24) has also been brought onto the show as director and executive producer. Both Harris and Cassar are joining fellow executive producers Laurie Zaks (Castle), David Hoberman (The Fighter), Todd Lieberman (The Fighter), and Steven Baigelman (Brother’s Keeper) for Wicked City.
Adam Rothenberg starred in Wicked City‘s pilot episode, but his character will now be played by Jeremy Sisto. This is not the only role in Wicked City that had to be recast. According to Deadline, Holley Fain (Grey’s Anatomy) who played Roth’s wife and Darrell Britt-Gibson (The Wire) who played Diver in the pilot will not be returning for the rest of the series. The Hollywood Reporter has stated that Evan Ross will take over the role of Diver. Diver is a series regular, he is photographer that specializes in crime scenes. Trish Roth, Jack Roth’s wife, has not yet been recast.
