Jennifer Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions And Skydance TV Developing Amazon Prime Video Series ‘Backwards In Heels’

Jennifer Lopez (Hustlers) will be among the executive producers for a new Amazon Prime Video series, Backwards In Heels, according to Deadline. Lopez will be executive producing along with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas (Second Act) and Benny Medina (Made In Manhattan) under their Nuyorican Productions banner, while David Ellison (The Tomorrow War), Dana Goldberg (I Am Legend), and Bill Bost (Grace And Frankie) will executive produce for Skydance TV.

The show will be written and directed by Richard LaGravenese (The Last Five Years). The premise of the show is a story about glamorous women living at the Barbizon Hotel in a post-World War II New York City, according to Deadline.

The Barbizon Hotel is located at 140 East 63rd St on the Manhattan’s Upper East Side. For several decades, the hotel was a female-only residential hotel for young women who came to NYC for professional opportunities. There were no men allowed above the ground floor and strict dress and conduct rules were enforced. Men began to be admitted as guests in 1981.

Famous actresses who have stayed at the Barbizon Hotel include Joan Crawford (The Damned Don’t Cry), Grace Kelly (Dial M For Murder), Lauren Bacall (To Have And Have Not), Betty Buckley (The Happening), and more, according to Deadline.

Lopez has been busy in recent months. Last week, she was honored at the iHeartRadio Music Awards with the prestigious Icon Award for her contributions in the music industry. The actress’ recent romantic comedy, Marry Me, was one of the most viewed movies ever on NBC Universal’s Peacock streaming service, approaching six million streams.

This will also not be the last time Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions and Skydance TV team up. Both production companies, along with Concord Theatricals, are also developing a slate of original projects based on Concord’s catalog of musicals, which includes the works of Broadway icons Rodgers & Hammerstein, Deadline reports.

A production start date has not been revealed as of yet. It’s also currently unclear as to who will star in the series.
