Jennifer Finnigan has been set as the female lead in the high-profile FX drama pilot Tyrant, Deadline has learned exclusively.
The pilot comes from the executive producers of Homeland Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff and Six Feet Under alum Craig Wright. It tells the story of an unassuming American family Barry (Adam Rayner); his smart and idealistic wife Molly (Finnigan); and their kids Emma (Anne Winters) and Sammy (Noah Silver). The family gets drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle East nation.
David Yates is directing the pilot, which begins filming next week in Morocco. Gordon, Raff and Wright will executive produce in association with Keshet Broadcasting and Fox 21.
FX has already put in a big commitment for the script and expect it to go to series.
Finnigan is repped by ICM Partners and manager John Carrabino. She recently starred on the TNT drama Monday Mornings.
