Jennifer Aniston Makes a Surprise Appearance on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Jennifer Aniston proved over the weekend that she’ll still be there for you. According to Variety, Aniston made a surprise guest appearance on Saturday’s episode of Saturday Night Live during the Weekend Update segment of the show.

On Weekend Update, co-anchor Colin Jost opens the segment talking about 90s nostalgia that’s sweeping the nation before introducing Rachel Green (Vanessa Bayer doing her impersonation of the iconic Friends character) to the news desk. After a few jarring transitions, Aniston appears and sits next to Bayer, telling her she needs to stop constantly texting her to hang out, even if they did have a fun time shooting Office Christmas Party, which opens in theaters on Friday.

Aniston then said Bayer needs to stop doing her impression of Rachel since Friends “was five million and five years ago” and said that it was time to move on.

After appearing in Weekend Update, Aniston also participated in a sketch with Leslie Jones, Sasheer Zamata, Kate McKinnon and Emma Stone, who served as the episode’s host. In the sketch, Zamata is the hostess of a Paley Center talk, where Jones, Stone and Aniston all play themselves and McKinnon stars as Debette Goldry, a recurring character of McKinnon’s. The panel features Jones, Stone and Aniston answering questions about actresses today, whereas McKinnon’s character talked about everything her character, an older actress, went through back in her days of acting.

The video isn’t available online, but is available for viewing on the SNL app.

The episode failed to match the ratings high set by the hosts earlier in the season but still did better than episodes that were airing at this time last year. TV by the Numbers reported that the episode scored a 4.4 rating in metered households and a 2.1 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic, giving the season its new season low.

Saturday Night Live airs Saturday nights at 11:35 p.m. Next week’s host will be Jon Cena with musical guest Maren Morris. The following week, Dec. 17, will be the last episode to air in 2016 and will be hosted by Casey Affleck with musical guest Chance the Rapper.
