Jeni Konner signs Overall Deal With Fox 21 Television Studios

Jenni Konner, the former executive producer of Girls, has signed a multiyear overall deal with Fox 21 Television Studios. Konner will develop and produce series projects across all of the studio’s platforms.

Fox 21 Television Studios President Bert Salke said in a statement on Monday, “From the moment that we sat down with Jenni we wanted to work together. In addition to being smart, energetic, and a huge connector of people and ideas, Jenni has a signature taste and style that makes her a distinct and much-admired creator. We’re incredibly excited to be a part of that.”

“Before we even met I knew that Dana (Walden) and Bert were committed to supporting outstanding, quality television,” Konner said. “When we sat down together, I instantly felt a deep creative connection. Fox 21 supports creatives. Full stop. I’m thrilled that the next chapter in my career can be with them.”

In July of 2018, Konner’s split up with her longtime producing partner Lena Dunham before their joint overall deal with HBO ended in December. The two women created Girls and Camping togetherIn a joint statement, Konner and Dunham said, “We have had one of the most significant relationships together in our adult lives and we respect each other’s choices. While our interests are pulling us in different directions right now, we are excited about our current work and are firmly committed to the projects we have together. HBO has been our home for quite some time and we look forward to continuing there as we both move forward.” 

At the time, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Konner and Dunham were in talks for individual deals with the HBO network. In August of 2019, it was reported that Dunham had an exclusive first-look deal with HBO.
