Nominations for the 56th annual Grammy Awards were announced on Friday at the Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on CBS.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jay Z leads the nominations with nine nominations including Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Album. Jay Z also has two nominations for the same category, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Part II (On the Run)” featuring Beyoncé and “Holy Grail” featuring Justin Timberlake.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar and Justin Timberlake followed Jay Z in nominations with seven each. While Drake received five nominations.
LL Cool J hosted The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night. There were live performances from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Robin Thicke, Lorde and Keith Urban. Drake was set to perform but at the last minute had to pull out of the performance due to “scheduling complications” according to Rolling Stone.
The Grammys will air live on CBS at 8 p.m. on January 26.
