Janel Parrish, known for her roles as Mona Vanderwaal in Pretty Little Liars and Margot Covey in To All The Boys I Loved Before, is set to star in new Hallmark series Family History Mysteries: Buried Past, according to Deadline.
Parish is set to play main character Sophie McClure, a genealogist who digs up the past and brings families together. When Sophie’s close friend Jonathan, played by Morgan David Jones (Supernatural, Jupiter’s Legacy), needs to find a bone marrow donor, it brings his twin brother and Sophie’s old flame, Jackson, played by Niall Matter (The Predator, Watchmen), back into her life, via Deadline. Sophie must track down their birth father, whom they’ve never met, in order to save Jonathan’s life, and it brings up Sophie’s own mystery of her adoption, via Deadline.
Parish’s most recent roles include Magnum P.I. as Maleah, Until We Meet Again as Lisa Wagner, Run & Gun as Faith, Christmas is Canceled as Brandy Barnes, and Right In Front of Me as Carly Mason.
Family History Mysteries: Buried Past is executive produced by Joel Rice (Criminal Minds, In Treatment), Jonas Prupas (Coroner, Durham County), Carol Baum (Fly Away Home, Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Jane Goldenring (Zapped, My First Mister), and Nikki DeLoach (Love & Other Drugs, The House Bunny), according to Deadline. The series is set to premiere on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries in January 2023.
