James Gunn Speaks On The DCU’s Batman Appearing In The New Episode Of ‘Creature Commandos’

According to TVLine, James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) talks about the silhouette of Batman in the recent episode of Max’s Creature Commandos. In a recent series episode, the dark knight loomed over an Ice Lounge party. Gunn speaks about Batman showing up in the episode and how is not fully ready to commit to the character.

In a video posted by Rotten Tomatoes Gunn said, “When they first gave Creature Commandos Episode 6 animation to me, we saw a lot more Batman. And I was saying, ‘I am not ready to commit to that. I’m not read to commit to that. I’m not ready to commit to that.’ I was just like, ‘More silhouette, more silhouette, more silhouette.’”

He went to explain that any glimpses of Batman instead were “a great way to show that Batman already exists in this universe. Just like when we come to the Superman movie we see that Superman already exists, he’s already known by the people in Metropolis.”

Creature Commandos follows a group of military superhumans who look like monsters and are led by a human. The team consists of a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein’s monster, a gorgon, and many others. The series is part of Gunn’s new DCU and will correlate with all new films and television series.

“Yeah, we don’t need to hear the origin story again,” Gunn says. “That’s just a way to introduce that Batman is an important part of this universe, and he has an impact on it — including defeating such pretty dangerous, scary people like Phosphorus, who’s pretty tough.”.

“This is the DCU Batman,” Gunn affirms, “I love him and we’re gonna do great things with him” in the new DCU. “He’s the most popular superhero in the world and I can’t wait for people to see more of him, along with Superman, and together.”
