According to ComicBook, James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, Slither) clarifies any confusion fans may have over the new DC Universe. Max revealed on Sunday a reel of what is to come to the streamer platform in 2025, including the second season of Peacemaker. This made fans notice a small discrepancy as Rick Flag Sr. who will first appear in the adult animated series Creature Commandos before appearing in the live-action Superman film. The discrepancy was that in the animated series Rick Flag Sr.’s hair is silver but in the second season of Peacemaker it is black.
As per ComicBook, Gunn clarified that the difference in hair color comes from Frank Grillo (The Purge: Election Year, Long Gone Heroes) who plays Rick Flag Sr. also filming the second season of Tulsa King during the production of the series.
Gunn has also explained the timeline of the current series and films that have and will premiere. Gunn wrote on Threads, “Peacemaker 2 is after Superman which is after Creature Commandos,”
Peacemaker follows the events of the character with the same name after the Suicide Squad movie. John Cena (Ricky Stanky, Jackpot!) stars as Peacemaker a character that believes in achieving peace at any cost. The series is the first Spin-off in the new DC Universe that Gunn is building.
Creature Commandos is an animated series joining the DC Universe. The series follows a group of military superhumans. This group includes a human leader, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein’s monster and a gorgon. The series is the first animated installment and the first part of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters which is set to establish the new DC Universe.
Both series are part of Gunn’s plan for a new DC Universe which combines live-action and animated series and films into the same realm. Many actors who play a live-action role may also be playing an animated counter part.
Although Peacemaker season two won’t premiere on Max until 2025 Creature Commandos will be available to stream on December 5.
