Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘Red Table Talk’ Signs 3 Year Renewal with Facebook Watch

Facebook Watch’s original talk show series Red Table Talk now has a multiyear deal with actress Jada Pinkett Smith and Westbrook Studios, Smith’s husband, Will Smith’s company. Episodes, which feature Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith and mother Adrienne Banfield Norris, will continue streaming into 2022.

Facebook Watch will also be adding another element to the Red Table Talk franchise called Red Table Talk: The Estefans, which will feature Gloria Estefan, her daughter Emily Estefan and niece Lili Estefan.

“I’m incredibly proud of Red Table Talk, and thrilled to build upon this franchise with my family and with Gloria, Emily and Lili,” Pinkett Smith said. “Red Table Talk has created a space to have open, honest and healing conversations around social and topical issues, and what’s most powerful for me is hearing people’s stories and engaging with our fans in such a tangible way on the Facebook Watch platform. I’m excited to see the Estefans put their spin on the franchise and take it to new places.”

While Pinkett Smith’s show is set in Los Angeles, Red Table Talk: The Estefans will shoot in Miami and continue to follow the original show’s format by having unscripted conversations between family members, celebrity guests and others.

Red Table Talk is one of Facebook Watch’s most popular shows, with 7.1 million followers on their page. Episodes of the talk show consistently rack up 5 million or more views, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

This renewal comes after Facebook Watch cancelled two of their scripted shows, Limetown and Sorry for Your Loss but ordered Blumhouse TV’s Sacred Lies and a third season of Real Bros of Simi Valley, which are both scripted shows. The social media giant is said to be moving towards more unscripted shows going forward, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“We’ve been fortunate enough to be in business with such wonderful partners and are thrilled to expand the Red Table Talk franchise with Jada Pinkett Smith, the Estefans and Westbrook Studios,” Mina Lefevre, the head of development and programming at Facebook Watch, said. “Red Table Talk is a shining example of how content, community and conversation come together on Facebook Watch. We’re proud to keep this conversation going around topics our fans care about.”
