It’s Alive!: FX’s ‘Very Young Frankenstein’ Pilot Advances With Disney Royalty

The world of classic horror-comedy is about to be reanimated! FX has officially ordered a pilot for Very Young Frankensteina television series inspired by Mel Brooks’s iconic 1974 film. According to Screenrant, it is currently unknown on whether the plot of the series will be the same within the film which the genius scientist tries to prove that his ancestor’s idea of bring the dead back to life is not crazy. Furthermore, Mel Brooks (Robots, Hotel Transylvania 2) will return to direct and produce the series, alongside Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Saw), who is rumored to have a role within it.

Stated by Screenrant, the series is gathering a star studded cast, with revolving around the comedic side with the addition of Disney stars: Zach Galifianakis (Hangover, Only Murder in the Building) who played Jumba in the 2025 Stitch Movie and Kumail Nanjiani (Stuber, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire) known for playing Kingo in Eternals . Additional members of the series will include Dolly Wells (Dracula, Inside Man), Spencer House (Space Force, The Society), and Nikki Crawford (96 Souls, Crown Lake), whose roles remain under wraps.

Screenrant reports, while little information is known about what direction the horror comedy will take, the confirmed lineup of renowned celebrities symbolizes that the series will focus on light humor to attract the viewers while incorporating bits of horror. The FX pilot is being helmed by the creative team behind What We Do In the Shadows. It’s only a matter of time if the pilot turns out to be a success and transforms Very Young Frankenstein into a full series.

According to Screenrant, the horror comedy is said to pickup by and streamed on Hulu. Fans of both gothic horror spoofs and modern comedic talent are eagerly awaiting the moment that Very Young Frankenstein is finally brought to life.
