According to Deadline, HBO Max’s The Pitt added four actors to the recurring cast for Season Two. These actors include Irene Choi (Truth Be Told, Insatiable), Laëtitia Hollard (Or Monsters All, Trauma), Charles Baker (Breaking Bad, The Blacklist), and Lucas Iverson (Frankenstein by the Shakespeare Theatre Co.).
Sources have disclosed to Deadline some brief information about each character, but they could change.
As of what is known right now, Choi will play Joy, who is a defensive, third-year medical student, with a lot of knowledge about medicine and also interested in the macabre. Baker will play Troy, who is a patient in the ED and a forgotten, unhoused man. Iverson will play James, who is a fourth-year medical student, Deadline discloses.
The producer of The Pitt is John Wells (The West Wing, Third Watch) and the creator is R. Scott Gemmill (ER, JAG). The show is about the intense and imminent obstacles that are faced by frontline U.S. healthcare professionals, told through the emergency department at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. The series plays out in a real-time format, hour-by-hour, tracking down the different medical cases and personal crises that nurses and physicians face, while they are also dealing with too many patients but too few resources, via Deadline.
Deadline states that Noah Wyle (ER, The Librarians) leads the series, and is a writer and executive producer of it. The ensemble cast is made up of actors Tracy Ifeachor (Treason, Showtrial), Patrick Ball (Law & Order), Taylor Dearden (Breaking Bad, Sweet/Vicious), Katherine LaNasa (The Campaign, The Frozen Ground), Fiona Dourif (Chucky, The Blacklist), Gerran Howell (Young Dracula, Freedom’s Path), Isa Briones (Takers, Goosebumps), Shabana Azeez (Birdeater, In Limbo), Supriya Ganesh (The Principles of Pleasure, Spoiler Alert), and guest star Shawn Hatosy (Southland, Animal Kingdom).
The first season of the series won awards at the Gotham TV Awards and might be a major contestant for the Emmys. Additionally, Season 1 will air on TNT. Gemmill revealed to Deadline that Season two is taking place over Fourth of July weekend, which he suggested in April that it would feature a leap in time, new characters, and potential promotions for the returning cast.
Deadline stated that John Wells Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television is producing this medical drama under an overall deal. Executive producers include Michael Hissrich (The West Wing, My Own Worst Enemy), Wyle Wells, Erin Jontow (Emperor of Ocean Park, Animal Kingdom), and Simran Baidwan (Manifest, Ordinary Joe).
Choi is repped by Vault Entertainment and Realm Talent. Iverson is represented by Strike up the Brand. Baker is represented by The Green Room and Greene Talent. Hollard is repped by Mosaic, according to Deadline.
