‘Invincible’s’ Villains Get Bigger and Badder in Season Three

The dust has settled on Invincible’s explosive season two finale, but creator Robert Kirkman (Outcast) is already looking ahead, hinting at even bigger threats on the horizon for Mark Grayson and the Guardians of the Globe. In the aftermath of brutal battles, Invincible’s heroes regroup, and unlikely alliance forms as Allen and Omni-Man plot a daring escape. According to Comicbook, Kirkman gives a brief synopsis of the entirety of season two and the future of the franchise.

The second season also dealt with Mark going through psychological pain, and fear that he is turning into his father, and the third season could go into more detail

“The Viltrumites as a whole, especially over the course of Season two with Kregg’s directive to Mark and Anissa’s interaction with him and the hints at more to come, have pretty much established themselves as the major threat to this show,” Kirkman explained via Comicbook. “There will always be other villains, like Angstrom Levy, that pop up and maybe become the main antagonist for a season or two, but the undercurrent in the show is always going to be what’s going on with the Viltrumite threat.”

According to Comicbook, Kirkman was constantly asked about who would be voicing the future villains, specifically Conquest and Thragg. Kirkman had some actors in mind and teased the viewers by saying, “I’ll say, without saying who it is, that one of those two characters has already been cast.”

Witnessing Mark and the other guardians grapple with the ever-present threat of the Viltrumites while facing off against unique and dangerous foes will likely lead to an action-packed and suspenseful season three.

According to a previous mxdwn post, the production of the third season is underway, and the format that it will take may be similar to the previous two. While waiting on more information about the third installment, the other seasons are available to stream on Prime Video.
