IMDb TV Announces Rebrand to Amazon Freevee, Announces Slate of New Series

In a news press release from Amazon today, the streaming giant revealed that their free streaming service IMDb TV will be rebranded as ‘Amazon Freevee.’ This announcement comes alongside detailed plans to expand the platform’s original content library by 70% in 2022, including spinoffs of popular shows such as Bosch: Legacy. The service also plans to add more original movies in the coming year.

Amazon.com Inc reported tripling its active monthly user in the past two years on the ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) service and has set an expected launch date in Germany slated for sometime later this year.

“Over the past two years, we have seen tremendous growth for our AVOD service and are committed to bringing our audiences premium, free-to-consumer content,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, in the press release. “We’re looking forward to building on this momentum with an increasing slate of inventive and broadly appealing Originals, and are excited to establish Freevee as the premier AVOD service with content audiences crave.”

This massive rebranding will take effect starting on April 27. Watch the new trailer for the upcoming original show Bosch: Legacy here:
