A new anthology series is coming to Amazon Prime. According to Shadow and Act, David Weil’s (Moonfall, The Twilight Zone) Solos will premiere sometime later this year. The Hunters showrunner will make his directorial debut with the series that boasts an incredible cast. Read the show’s description below:
Solos is a dramatic and thought-provoking seven-part anthology series that explores the deeper meaning of human connection, as explored through the lens of the individual. Solos will tell unique character-driven stories, each from a different perspective and moment in time, that illuminate that even during our most seemingly isolated moments, in the most disparate of circumstances, we are all connected through the human experience. – via Shadow and Act
According to Shadow and Act, Morgan Freeman (Kiss the Girls, Lean on Me), Anne Hathaway (Interstellar, The Devil Wears Prada), Anthony Mackie (Outside the Wire, She Hate Me), Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians, Hustlers), Helen Mirren (The Good Liar, Fast and Furious 9), Uzo Aduba (Miss Virginia, Orange is the New Black), Nicole Beharie (Miss Juneteenth, Black Mirror), and Dan Stevens (Legion, Beauty and the Beast) are set to headline the series.
“I am beyond thrilled to be bringing Solos to life alongside this group of artists who I so deeply admire,” Weil said via Shadow and Act. “I created this piece with desire to capture stories about connection, hope and the search for that common hum of humanity that binds us all. I’m immensely grateful to Jennifer Salke and my incredible partners at Amazon for their unwavering support and collaboration on this special project,” Weil said via Shadow and Act.
Shadow and Act reports that Weil will executive produce, additional producers include Sam Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy, Fifty Shades of Grey), Laura Lancaster (The Expanse, The Defiant Ones), and Pixie Wespiser (Good Luck Charlie, Just Add Magic). Johnson will direct two episodes along with Zach Braff (Garden State, Scrubs) and Tiffany Johnson (Girls Room, Black Monday).
Weil’s series Hunters premiered on Amazon Prime last year. The action-drama starred Al Pacino (The Devil’s Advocate, Serpico) as the leader of an ensemble that tracked and hunted an underground syndicate of Nazis in 1970s America. The show co-starred Logan Lerman (Fury, The Perks of Being Wallflower), Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother, Liberal Arts), Jerrika Hinton (Grey’s Anatomy, Here and Now), Tiffany Boone (Little Fires Everywhere, The Chi), Lena Olin (Alias, Riviera) and Dylan Baker (The Americans, Along Came a Spider). The series was renewed for a second season.
This news comes a day after the announcement that Hathaway is set to star in WeCrashed for Apple TV+. Jared Leto (The Little Things, Suicide Squad) is her co-star in the series about the infamous tech start-up company, WeWork.
