Hulu is working on a Prison Break reboot. The series has found a place to shoot and has recruited Kelli Berglin (Doctor Odyssey, Queen of the Ring) into the cast.
For those who don’t know, the original Prison Break TV show was a crime drama series that told a story about a genius structural engineer who gets sent to prison in order to break out his wrongfully convicted brother who is on death row. According to The Hollywood Reporter, production is set to begin in June and parts of the series will be shot on stages at Radford Studio Center. The series will acquire $18.9 million to shoot in California and is projected to spend $53.2 million for around 63 shooting days.
According to Deadline, the series’ logline tells a story about a solider turned corrections officer takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves. Elgin James (The Outlaws, Mayans M.C.) will serve as the showrunner, and will be produced Dawn Olmstead (Apex, Mrs. America), Paul Scheuring (A Long Way from Nowhere, Halo: Nightfall), Marty Aldelstein (One Piece, Shifting Gears), and Neal Moritz (Prison Break, Murder in the White House). Berglin will be replacing Priscilla Delgado (Euphoria, A League of Their Own) who was the character Cheyenne in the pilot.
The cast consists of Emily Browning (The Fox, One More Shot), Donal Logue (CIA, Love Story), Margo Martindale (The Watcher, The Twits), Lili Taylor (Daredevil: Born Again, The Conjuring: Last Rites), Lukas Gage (Rosebush Pruning, People We Meet on Vacation), Ray McKinnon (Violent Ends, Sick Girl), Billy Brown (High Potential, Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake), Drake Rodger (Motorheads, Landman), Tava Smiley (Canal Street, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Sylvester Powell (All American: Homecoming, We Were Meant To), Kameron Whitaker (Chicago P.D., The Keeper), Axel J. González (Undercover Prison King, Matlock), Noah J. Welter (The Fairfield County Four, Overdue), JR Bourne (Savage, Mayans M.C.), Clayton Cardenas (Mayor of Kingstown, The Abandons), Georgie Flores (Chicago Med, Into the Dark), Myles Bullock (If I Go Will They Miss Me, The Vince Staples Show), and Karina Wolfe (Lou, S.W.A.T.).
We will have to wait for an official trailer for the Reboot. In the meantime you can watch the original Prison Break on Hulu before the main event.
