Netflix has officially dropped a thrilling trailer surrounding on the highly anticipated second season of its live action Avatar: The Last Airbender series. According to Screenrant, the second season, just like the animated series focuses on the second book: Earth, which follows the gang continue the journey which will lead throughout the Earth Kingdom.Original cast said to return will include Gordon Cormier (The Stand, Team Zenko Go) as Aang, Kiawentiio (IT: Welcome to Derry, What If…?) as Katara, and Ian Ousley (Young Sheldon, 13 Reasons Why) as Sokka. The new season will introduce Toph, played by Miya Cech (Rim of the World, The Astronauts), a powerful, but blind earthbend, who will later join the gang and become Aang’s earth bending teacher.
Reported by Screenrant, this isn’t the only story being told as we will witness Zuko, played by Dallas Liu (Sakamoto’s Day, Tekken) and his Uncle Iroh, played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (The Mandaloiran, Ahsoka), who are now fugitives of their own nation and are on the run. With the new season will bring a new challenge for the group, which comes in the form of Azula, played by Elizabeth Yu (Year One, Womb) and her companions May, played by Thalia Tran (Station 19, Little) and Ty Lee, played by Momona Tamada (Secret Headquarters, The Spiderwick Chronicles).
According to Screenrant, the season will recreate iconic seasons from the animated series namely being the battle of Ba Sing Se, the Deser Library and The Chase Showdown. Expect this season to follow the structure of the last, which masterfully blended several distinct storylines into a cohesive whole. By balancing these competing narratives, the creators and team manage to deliver a captivating plot, while staying true to the source material.
While awaiting for the second season premiere which is scheduled for June 25, the first season of the live action Avatar: the Last Airbender is available to stream on Netflix.
