Hulu’s ‘Only Murders In The Building’ Renewed For Season Five

It seems the residents of Arconia have even more murders to solve on the horizon. According to VarietyOnly Murders in the Building has been renewed for a fifth season at Hulu.

The murder mystery comedy starring Steve Martin (Father of the Bride, Cheaper by the Dozen), Martin Short (Three Amigos, Treasure Planet) and Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place, Emilia Perez) is in the middle of its fourth season with episode one having premiered on August 27 and the season finale scheduled for October 29. Given that the current season still has eight episodes to release, it is difficult to speculate what the plot of season five will look like. However, Variety has confirmed that it will consist of 10 episodes, like each season before.

Season four of Only Murders in the Building follows its trio of amateur true-crime podcasters as they solve the murder of Sazz Pataki, played by Jane Lynch (Glee, Wreck-it Ralph). While on the hunt, the Arconia team finds themselves in Los Angeles, where a movie based on their podcast is being produced.

The cast of season four is star-studded. Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek, American Pie), Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives, Land of Women) and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover, Due Date), Melissa McCarthy (The Little MermaidGilmore Girls), Richard Kind (Inside OutYoung Sheldon), Molly Shannon (Superstar, How the Grinch Stole Christmas), Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals, Lovebirds) and Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia, The Devil Wears Prada) all make appearances.

Only Murders in the Building was co-created by Martin and showrunner John Hoffman (Good Boy, The Emoji Movie) in 2021. It has been a commercial and critical success for Hulu, with an average critical score of 97% and an audience score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. Season three was also nominated for 21 Emmy awards.

It will be a while before more news comes out about season five of Only Murders in the Building, but until then, new episodes of season four are dropping every Tuesday on Hulu and Disney+.
