Hulu has announced that Chad Powers will return for its second season on September 3. According to Deadline, Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Hidden Figures, Hit Man) will reprise his role as Russ Holliday and his alter ego, Chad Powers, as the South Georgia Catfish pursue a place in the College Football Playoff.
Hulu also released the first official images from the upcoming season. According to the official synopsis, Chad’s unusual behavior has begun drawing suspicion from those around him, particularly Coach Hudson and Gerry. As pressure mounts, Ricky may prove to be the only person capable of helping the team succeed.
The series stars Powell as Russ Holliday and Chad Powers alongside Perry Mattfeld (In the Dark, Mending the Line, The Idea of You) as Ricky, Quentin Plair (Tiny Beautiful Things, Not Without Hope, Apples Never Fall) as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett (Agent Carter, Sweet Magnolias, DTF St. Louis) as Tricia Yeager, Frankie Rodriguez (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Modern Family, Only Children) as Danny and Steve Zahn (War for the Planet of the Apes, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Righteous Gemstones) as Coach Jake Hudson.
Chad Powers is based on the Eli’s Places segment from ESPN and Omaha Productions. The series was created by Powell and Michael Waldron (Loki, Rick and Morty, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness).
