Hulu Signs Exclusive Streaming Deal with NBCUniversal

Hulu has added to its expanding list of exclusive Video-On-Demand rights to primetime TV shows by inking a rights deal with NBCUniversal.

The exclusive licensing deal announced today makes Hulu Plus the exclusive destination for all previous seasons of Fox series The Mindy Project and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, with series like The Real Housewives and Top Chef franchises and E’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians also available exclusively in the coming weeks as part of the NBCUniversal stable — with Parks And Recreation coming non-exclusively.

The deal follows similar Hulu rights pacts forged in February as the company signed an extension with CBS for 2,600 new episodes of shows including Undercover Boss, United States Of Tara, Everybody Loves Raymond, Ghost Whisperer, The Brady Bunch and Laverne & Shirley, and another agreement was made with Disney/ABC Television group that secured Nashville as an exclusive.

Variety notes that, perhaps not coincidentally, NBCUniversal and 21st Century Fox are two of three companies that have a stake in Hulu, along with Disney. Both Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Mindy Project are produced by Universal Television.
