It’s official: Love, Victor, spin-off series to 2018 romantic-drama Love, Nathan, will premiere on June 19 on Hulu. On Monday, the platform released the official trailer where an unsure Victor (Michael Cimino) gets a barista lesson from the charming Benjie (George Sear) as he is adjusting to his new life in the city.
Adapted from Becky Albertalli’s 2015 bestseller Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, the original movie focused on Simon (Nick Robinson), a young teenager struggling with his sexual orientation and his family life. According to TVLine, this is the latter who is going to narrate Love,Victor and he will even be a support to the barista in Creekwood High School. As for the cast, it includes newcomer Mateo Fernandez, Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty), James Martinez (One Day at a Time), Isabella Ferreira (Orange Is the New Black), Cimino and Sear.
Originally meant to launch on Disney+, the ten-episodes first season relocated to Hulu in February 2020. Sources told TheWrap that changes were due to some of the series’ themes that were not family friendly, but Disney never confirmed the reports. Love, Simon co-writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger serve as executive producers on Love, Victor alongside Marty Bowen, Brian Tanen, Adam Fishbach, Jason Ensler, Isaac Klausner, Wyck Godfrey, Adam Londy and Pouya Shahbazian.
The series will debut on Hulu on July 19. Check out the trailer down below for a first taste :
