According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu has revealed the official trailer for Interior Chinatown starring Jimmy O. Yang (Love Hard, Crazy Rich Asians). Interior Chinatown is based on Charles Yu’s (Third Class Superhero, The Only Living Girl on Earth) 2020 novel. The series also features Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows, Jojo Rabbit) as the pilot director and Yu as the show’s creator and showrunner.

According to Hulu’s logline, the series follows Willis, a background character trapped in a police procedural called Black & White. The full synopsis reads: “Relegated to the background, Willis goes through the motions of his on-screen job, waiting tables, dreaming about a world beyond Chinatown and aspiring to be the lead of his own story. When Willis inadvertently becomes a witness to a crime, he begins to unravel a criminal web in Chinatown, while discovering his own family’s buried history and what it feels like to be in the spotlight.”
The cast for the series includes Yang as Willis Wu, Ronny Chieng (M3GAN, Wish Dragon) as Fatty Choi, Chloe Bennet (Valley Girl, Abominable) as Detective Lana Lee, Lisa Gilroy (Twisted Metal, Stay the Night) as Sarah Green, Sullivan Jones (The Gilded Age, Harlem) as Miles Turner, Archie Kao (Rabbit Hole, The Flight Attendant) as Wong, Tzi Ma (Rush Hour, The Quiet American) as Joe Wu, Diana Lin (The Farewell, The Long Season) as Lily Wu and Chau Long (Me Time, PEN15) as Carl.
The series will have a total of 10 episodes and will be produced by 20th Television. Yu and Waiti serve as executive producers alongside Dan Lin (The Lego Movie) and Lindsey Liberatore (The Day After Tomorrow) for Rideback, Jeff Skoll (The Help), Miura Kite (When They See Us) and Elsie Choi (Fifty Dead Men Walking) for Participant, Garrett Basch (The Night Of) for Dive and John Lee (False Positive).
Interior Chinatown airs on Hulu on November 19.
