Hulu Renews Drama Series ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ For A Second Season

The drama series Nine Perfect Strangers first debuted on Hulu in 2021. According to TVLine, Nine Perfect Strangers was originally a limited series. However, that initial plan changed as the series was recently renewed for a second season.

The premise for the series is based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies, The Husband’s Secret). As TVLine notes, her other novel titled Big Little Lies similarly was meant to be a limited series but ended up getting renewed due to its popularity.

Created by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, The Practice), the first season of Nine Perfect Strangers follows nine people who embark on a ten-day retreat at Tranquillum House. Tranquillum House is a well-being resort that focuses on healing run by Masha Dmitrichenko, played by Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies, Moulin Rouge). However, when the nine unique strangers arrive for their stay, things at the resort are not what they seem.

Stars of the first season include Melissa McCarthy (The Little Mermaid, Identity Thief) as Frances Welty, Michael Shannon (Bullet Train, The Flash) as Napoleon Marconi, Grace Van Patten (Tell Me Lies, Mayday) as Zoe Marconi, Luke Evans (Dracula Untold, Beauty and the Beast) as Lars Lee, Samara Weaving (Ready or Not, The Babysitter) as Jessica Chandler, Regina Hall (Girls Trip, Scary Movie 2) as Carmel Schneider, and more.

The second season of Nine Perfect Strangers follows a similar premise as the first season, but it is set in the Swiss Alps. Kidman will be returning as Masha. New stars of the second season include Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus, The Last of Us), Maisie Richardson-Sellers (The Originals, Legends of Tomorrow), Liv Ullmann (Persona, Miss Julie), Dolly De Leon (Triangle of Sadness, Verdict), and Aras Aydin (Canevim, Two Types of People).

With the announcement of a second season, fans of Liane Moriarty and Nine Perfect Strangers can look forward to immersing themselves back into a mystery soon enough.
