Hulu Releases Trailer for ‘Love, Simon’ Spin-Off Series ‘Love, Victor’

A month after Hulu revealed the first clips of dramedy series Love, Victor, the streaming service has just released the official trailer according to Entertainment Weekly. The series is set with the same backdrop as the film Love, Simon, debuting in 2018.

Love, Simon‘s original writers, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, work as executive producers  on the upcoming series  Love, Victor via Entertainment Weekly. Aptaker was also producer for the film.

The series follows Victor, played by Michael Cimino, a new student at Creekwood High school. While acclimating to a new town and unclear about his sexuality, Victor writes to Simon, played by Nick Robinson (Everything, Everything), for guidance. Through Victor’s narration when writting to Simon, Victor is exploring his sexual orientation, drawn towards a musician named Benji played by George Sear (Evermoor). Simultaneously, Victor fears whether he’ll fit in, specifically with an older generation that still can’t accept homosexuality, while having concerns over his parents  having  trouble within their marriage.

The series had originally been set to release on streaming service Disney Plus, but was passed onto Hulu. Allegedly, the switch was due to the adult themes of the series that did not mesh well with Disney’s family friendly content via vulture.com.

Love, Victor is plans to premiere all 10 episodes of season 1 June 19 on Hulu. You can watch the new trailer for the upcoming series on Youtube.
